Dr. Shehi has been a practicing psychiatrist since 1982 when he began his residency at University of AL at Birmingham. Since then he has been appointed Diplomate to the National Board of Medical Examiners, American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Academy of Pain Management. Before making Gadsden and Mountain View Hospital his home, Dr. Shehi served as director of outpatient services at Highland Hospital in Asheville, NC, clinical associate professor at Duke University School of Medicine, medical director of adult psychiatry at Brookwood Hospital in Birmingham and associate medical director and residential treatment center director at Hillcrest Hospital in Birmingham. Dr. Shehi has also served as principle investigator in dozens of researches involving psychiatric medications. He has authored countless articles in publications such as the American Journal of Psychiatry, Better Health and Internal Medicine for the Specialist. In addition to these publications, Dr. Shehi has been the keynote speaker at over 400 presentations in areas of Schizophrenia, Bipolar Affective Disorder, Depression, Panic Disorder, Alzheimer’s disease, Crisis Intervention, Alcohol Treatment, Stress Management, Borderline Personality Disorder and Migraine Headaches to professional groups throughout the United States. Dr. Shehi has been the medical director and owner of Mountain View Hospital since May 1991.

Emmett received his undergraduate BA degree from Auburn University in 1970 and a J.D. Degree in 1973 from the University of Alabama.
Emmett spent 25 years with the Alabama Department of Mental Health where he served as chief council, executive assistant to the Commissioner of Mental Health, Associate Commissioner for Administration and Personnel, Associate Commissioner for the division of Mental Illness, Deputy Commissioner and finally Commissioner of the state Department of Mental Health.
He began employment with Southeastern Psychiatric Management in November 1997.
James was born in Montgomery in 1940. He received his education from Huntingdon College, University of Alabama and University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Mr. Poncey has previously worked with Wilson, Barfield and Co. as a CPA, Livingston University as the Comptroller and with the Alabama Department of Mental Health as the Finance Director, the Associate Commissioner for Mental Illness and Substance Abuse and as the Associate Commissioner for Administration.
James Pouncey served as the VP for Finance for Southeastern Psychiatric Management from 1997- 2002. Today he remains a board member.

Sara started her career in nursing in 1981 at St. Vincent’s Hospital on the Adult Coronary Intensive Care Unit. Before coming to Mountain View Hospital, Sara worked as the Nurse Supervisor on the Adult Psychiatry Unit at Brookwood Hospital in Birmingham. Sara has been involved in numerous research activities regarding mental illness and psychiatric medication.
