G. Michael Shehi, M.D

Dr. Shehi has been a practicing psychiatrist since 1982 when he began his residency at University of AL at Birmingham. Since then he has been appointed Diplomate to the National Board of Medical Examiners, American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Academy of Pain Management.

Before making Gadsden and Mountain View Hospital his home, Dr. Shehi served as director of outpatient services at Highland Hospital in Asheville, NC, clinical associate professor at Duke University School of Medicine, medical director of adult psychiatry at Brookwood Hospital in Birmingham and associate medical director and residential treatment center director at Hillcrest Hospital in Birmingham. Dr. Shehi has also served as principle investigator in dozens of researches involving psychiatric medications.

He has authored countless articles in publications such as the American Journal of Psychiatry, Better Health and Internal Medicine for the Specialist. In addition to these publications, Dr. Shehi has been the keynote speaker at over 400 presentations in areas of Schizophrenia, Bipolar Affective Disorder, Depression, Panic Disorder, Alzheimer’s disease, Crisis Intervention, Alcohol Treatment, Stress Management, Borderline Personality Disorder and Migraine Headaches to professional groups throughout the United States. Dr. Shehi has been the medical director and owner of Mountain View Hospital since May 1991.
